Matt Hicks, the sole British representative at the Nice CDI3*, 30 March – 1 April, made his mark with a promising appearance, including a win, in the small tour. Although entries were sparse, the trip to the South of France venue provided a valuable overseas outing for the Hampshire rider.
Riding his own and Annemarie Dolan’s Talent III, a 13-year-old KWPN gelding by Burggraff, he scored 65.73% for second in the prix st georges behind the host nation’s Michel Palun and For Fortune who posted 67.13%.
Matt was the only rider to opt for the intermediate I freestyle as opposed to the intermediate I, however this shouldn’t detract from his and Talents’ result. Their performance impressed the jury to score just shy of 70%, one judge awarding them 76% for artistic.
