Britain’s leading para riders are heading to Vale View in Leicestershire this weekend for the Nirvana Spa Par Winter Championships (14 – 15 March). It’s been some time when the open and restricted championships were held together but they’re back together for one great big festival of inspirational para action.
Saturday features warm up classes for the restricted riders to get them prepared for their Nirvana Spa championship sections from mid-morning. There’s some great stars of the future on show; Rowan Crosby, Lydia Aucott and World Class development rider Izzy Palmer to name a few.
On Saturday there’s also qualifying classes for the KBIS British Para Championships at the LeMieux Nationals in September where a number of leading riders will be hoping to earn valuable points towards a Stoneleigh Place. Paralympians Sophie Christiansen, Lee Pearson CBE, Natasha Baker, Deborah Criddle and Sophie Wells will all be in action.
Sunday is the turn of the open riders’ Nirvana Spa championships across the grades and all five look to be close battles. Will it be the experienced riders who win out or could some of the riders pushing them hard with new horses take the honours? Or even a new name to the fray who takes the spoils?
