Talented combinations made an impression at the Scotland Winter Regional Championships at Rowallan Activity Centre, Ayrshire 1 – 3 March 2013.
The seventh, and final, of the 2013 winter regional championships saw strong competition with riders all out to earn tickets for the NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships at Hartpury College in April.
Hannah Guild (25) rode Corienta (pictured), her six-year-old KWPN mare, to victory in the Elementary Open Music Freestyle. The Fraserburgh rider rode the athletic daughter of Santano to post a massive 79.74%, the highest score across all of the seven regional championships. The pair competed in this class at Hartpury in 2012 and one year later could be likely contenders for the coveted title.
Jo Hamilton notched up a hat trick of wins on three different horses. With Corchapin, her own and Lady Hope’s six-year-old, she headed the Elementary Open with 75.52%; and riding Cantos, another six-year-old, she headed the Novice Open Music Freestyle with 78.70%. These two young talents - both sons of Negro - look exciting prospects for the Midlothian rider.
Jo, who trains with Carl Hester, also headed the Advanced Medium Music Freestyle riding her 11-year-old KWPN gelding Vivaldi V. The pair scored 78.70%. Jo and Vivaldi are no strangers to the big stage having already won five national titles during their prolific partnership.
