British rider Sarah Millis and HP Frontier (pictured) secured 13th place in world-class company at the Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage™ 2012/2013 – round 7, Neumünster, Germany, 16 – 17 February.
Sarah and HP Frontier (Falkrich x Liberty Light), Katja Kuistila’s 14-year-old gelding, produced an assured freestyle performance at Neumünster’s atmospheric Holstenhallen to take 13th place in the world cup qualifier with a score of 70.00%. Sarah and the towering Australian-bred rode to their new Maroon 5 compilation arranged by German composer Ralf Roder.
“Overall I was delighted with the result,” said Sarah. “I was a little cautious in the grand prix and had a few mistakes but did enough to get through to the freestyle.”
“This was our first world cup freestyle and HP took it in his stride showing more confidence even in the very electric atmosphere. There are still areas that need improving but this also shows that higher marks will be possible,” she added.
Germany’s Helen Langehanenberg and Damon Hill NRW, Christian Becks’ 13-year-old son of Donnerhall, headed the line-up in front of their home crowd. They scored a huge 87.80%, more than three per cent ahead of second-placed Kristina Sprehe and Desperados.
Britain’s Daniel Watson and Fideramber scored 65.97% in the grand prix narrowly missing out on a place in the kür.
