We would like thank all our members who took the time to complete the online survey regarding the possible changes to the competition structure. Around 12% of full members took part, making up 80% of the respondents.
Initial statistics indicate that over 70% who fed back are in favour of a change which is positive news. As well as the measurable statistics from the survey, we received a huge amount of detailed feedback and individual comments.
Because of this the Rule and Fixtures committee, supported by the Board have taken the decision to defer implementing any changes to the competition structure until 1 December 2015 for the 2016 competition year. This is to ensure that we have taken sufficient time to carefully analyse and carefully consider the feedback, finalise proposals, and give time to develop our IT systems to handle all the new data.
Rules & Fixtures Chairman Tamsyn Cowie commented; “We appreciate some will be disappointed by having to wait another year, but with something so fundamental which will change the sport significantly, we have to make sure it’s right. As the members have given such considered feedback, we’re sure that you will understand this and will be supportive while we take the additional time.”
It’s anticipated that there will be a second consultation later in year before finalising the full changes. We hope to be able to release the detail of the final changes early in 2015 so that members have a sufficient period of time to become familiar with them before they come into circulation on 1 December 2015.
British Dressage wishes to thank everyone again for taking the time to get involved with the development and improvement of your sport.
