Spencer Wilton and Goodmans Supernova achieved their second Premier League victory of 2016, taking the LeMieux Grand Prix in convincing style at Somerford Premier League (27-30 May 2016) in Cheshire.
Berkshire-based Spencer, 43, and Goodmans Supernova (pictured), a talented 13-year-old son of De Niro continued their run of good form producing a performance full of quality to place first - a unanimous decision across all five judges. Spencer and the powerfully-agile Supernova who is increasing in maturity by the day, earned a great score of 72.88% to head the 25-strong Grand Prix.
Owned by Jen Goodman and partnered by Spencer for four years, the horse is now in his third year of Grand Prix competition. Spencer and ‘Neville’ are on great form this year having enjoyed Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special victories at Lier CDI3* in March and at Nieuw En St Joosland CDI3* in the Netherlands in April, they were Grand Prix Special runners-up.
The highest score of the show was posted by Becky Edwards who, aboard Margaret Cox and Leigh Edwards’ Don Archie, won Saturday’s Saracen Horse Feeds Intermediate I. With a personal best mark of 74.43%, Becky and the Dimaggio-sired 12-year-old secured direct qualification for the LeMieux National Championships in September.
