The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) awarded four members of the equestrian community with BEF Medals of Honour, in recognition of the outstanding services they have given to equestrian sport, during yesterday’s evening performance at The London International Horse Show, Olympia (20 December 2015).
Para-Dressage Chair of Selectors Juliet Seal, Para-Dressage World Class Equine Osteopath Karen Robertson, British Dressage’s Linda Whetstone and Head of Secretariat at the BEF Maggie Moreton, all received their awards from the BEF’s Chairman Keith Taylor.
In addition to the award of the BEF Medals of Honour, a special presentation was also made to photographer Kit Houghton in recognition of his support and service to the BEF over the last thirty years.
About the recipients
As a Selector, and now as Chair of Selectors, Juliet has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the British para-dressage team and her dedication, both nationally and internationally, has been instrumental to the unprecedented success of the GBR squad to date.
Karen has been working with the Para-Dressage squad in her role as Equine Osteopath for the World Class Programme for the past twelve years. Her dedication, commitment and devotion to the team over the years has been pivotal in helping the squad maintain their unbeaten record, and is a key part of an exceptional support team.
Linda receives her medal of honour for her outstanding commitment to British Dressage, both nationally and internationally. Playing fundamental roles within the organisation over the years as Rules & Fixtures Director and Judges Director, she has overseen the production and refinement of the rules framework, fixtures calendar, training judges as well as the Pet Plan Area Festivals, to name a few. She continues in her role as Technical Delegate for both the Nationals and Winter Championships, a role she has held since 1998.
Maggie receives her award for her outstanding devotion and contribution to the BEF over the past thirty years. Having played an instrumental part in the growth of an originally small Federation into the internationally influential Federation we have today, her extensive knowledge of the Federation and its activities is both exceptional and invaluable.
Kit Houghton was recognised for ‘capturing some of our most iconic moments’ for the Federation over the last thirty years; we thank him for his continued support of equestrian sport.
