Para Performance Manager announced

The British Equestrian Federation has today confirmed the appointment of Sarah Armstrong as the interim Para-Equestrian Dressage Performance Manager.

Sarah, who is currently the Head of Logistics and Administration of the National Lottery-funded World Class Programme, will continue in her current role in addition to overseeing the para-dressage squad’s preparations for next year’s Paralympic Games. She will also act as the Team's Chef d’Equipe during the Games.

Sarah joins Di Lampard, Richard Waygood and Yogi Breisner as part of the core performance management team for the World Class Programme under Performance Director Dan Hughes. Sarah will start with immediate effect and will lead a dedicated and successful group of athletes, coaches and support staff after GBR successfully qualified for Rio 2016 at the 2014 World Equestrian Games and won team gold again at this year’s European Championships in Deauville.

Commenting on her appointment Sarah said; “I feel very privileged that I will be working alongside such a talented team of athletes and staff at such a crucial time in the preparation for Rio 2016. I’m sure that there will be some challenging and exciting times ahead and I’m very much looking forward to getting started.”

Dan Hughes, Performance Director for the World Class Programme commented; “Sarah has extensive experience of the unique environment generated by a Games as well as a sound understanding of the support our para-dressage athletes require to enable them to perform at their best. Sarah is extremely well placed to lead the well-established and successful team that are now beginning their preparations to defend their London 2012 Paralympic title”.

Before joining the World Class team in 2007, Sarah pursued an investment career in the City. Since joining the World Class Programme she has worked on major projects including the pre-export quarantine camps prior to the 2008 Olympic Games, as well as managing all logistics planning for Team GBR at major Championships. Originally from a hunting and eventing background, she now competes in dressage.
