The sport is enjoying a public profile like never before, with a growing membership of over 16,000 plus a further 44,000 registered supporters. With a team of 40 employees, supported by an extensive network of volunteers, British Dressage now regulates over 2,100 days of competition a year.
British Dressage is looking to recruit three key voluntary committee positions:
• Regional Chairman / Chairwoman in the South West Region
• Member Judges Committee
• Member Rules & Fixtures Committee

Regional Chairman / Chairwoman in the South West Region
This important role will involve leading the committee of regional representatives and working closely with the Regional Development Officer to deliver BD activity, as agreed by the technical committees. You will enable members in your region to have access to good quality training, competitions and other supporting activities to help them get the most out of their sport. The Regional Chair will also help to ensure that their members’ views and needs are represented throughout BD.
The successful candidate will need to be approachable, enthusiastic, diplomatic, responsible and professional, ideally living within the South West Region (which includes Avon, Channel Islands, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire). An ability to support, motivate and lead the Regional Committee members is also essential.
A dressage background and prior involvement with BD (for example, as a judge, trainer, organiser, rider or owner) is required for this position. You will be supported directly by the BD Chief Executive, the RDO and the Regional Committee. The post is voluntary, but expenses to attend meetings will be paid. Download the role description.

Judges Committee Member
The Judges Committee is a sub-committee of the Board of British Dressage set up for the purpose of supervising all affairs relating to judging, and developing and maintaining a sufficient number of high quality judges.
Requirements for this vacancy on the committee are:
• A current judge on lists 1 to 4; judges on list 3 and 4 are actively encouraged to come forward for this particular position.
• To be judging regularly at your level.
• To have attended central/regional judge training on a regular basis.
• To be generally respected by the judging and riding community and be In touch with judging and riders at the grassroots levels in BD.
• Good experience and knowledge of the training of dressage horses including the scales of training.
• Great team worker – you’ll be part of a varied team.
• Masses of enthusiasm for judging and the sport of dressage.
• Computer literacy (and access to a computer) – most communications are by email.
• Enough time to commit to the role.
• Professional skills within or outside the horse world would be an advantage.
British Dressage Rules and Fixtures Committee
Lizzie Murray will retire from the Committee at the end of the year as she has now completed her second term leaving a vacancy.
The Rules and Fixtures Committee is a sub-committee of the Board of British Dressage set up for the purpose of supervising all affairs relating to rules, fixtures allocation and maintaining a sufficient number of high quality venues.
Requirements for members of the committee are:
• Be a current member of BD.
• Be an active participant with in the sport such as a rider, judge, volunteer, organiser, etc.
• Be in touch with participation at all levels of BD competition.
• Have and excellent knowledge of the BD rules.
• Have time to commit to the Rules and Fixtures Committee.
• Be computer literate as much of the communication is via email.
