The greatly anticipated Mount St John Dressage Future Elite Championship promises to deliver exciting competition with a stellar line up of horses and riders. The impressive final will take place in the Andrews Bowen International Arena on Friday 9th October.

Once again Michael Eilberg will be vying for the title along with seven other competitors. Michael won the Championship in 2013 with Half Moon Dynasty and came a close second in 2014 with the talented mare Woodlander Farouche.

The Mount St John Dressage Future Elite Championship has gone from strength to strength since it began in 2013 as an invitational, now horse and rider combinations must qualify to compete. The qualified combinations for 2015 are:

• AMD Don Rosso II and Matt Frost
• Carinsio and Becky Moody
• Der Designer and Michael Eilberg
• DHI Homerun and Natalie Kayal
• Tantoni Sir Soccrates and Alice Oppenheimer
• Don Carissimo and Olivia Oakeley

In addition to the qualified combinations, there are also two Wild Card entries that were selected by Horse of the Year Show and British Dressage’s senior selection committee.

The first Wild Card was awarded to Jackie Stolper riding the 10 year old German bred Luciano Pavarotti. Jacqueline has been riding Luciano Pavarotti since he was a three year old and 2015 has been the horse’s first year of serious competition.

The second Wild Card went to Danish born Mette Assouline riding her own AD-Ratino. Mette is a successful dressage trainer and has had an impressive career, a highlight of which includes riding on the Danish Team in 1997.

Each combination will perform an Intermediate I Freestyle Test to music which is often likened to the horse and rider dancing together. By pairing the dressage test with music the audience get to experience complete sensory magic as each combination takes to the arena.

The judges for this year’s competition will be FEI Dressage Judge General, Olympic judge and internationally renowned trainer Stephen Clarke (GBR), international judge and successful trainer, Peter Storr (GBR) and FEI 5* judge and successful trainer Francis Verbeek (NED).

Last year the Mount St John Dressage Future Elite Championship was won, after a heated battle, by Anders Dahl riding Selten HW.

Title sponsor, Mount St John, specialise in breeding dressage horses of the highest quality sourcing some of the world’s best and most sought after bloodlines.
