Pony rider superstar, Phoebe Peters swept the board at Nieuw en Sint Joosland CDI3* last week as she claimed all three pony titles on offer at the Dutch-based competition.
One of 13 British riders who made the trek over to the Netherlands, Phoebe and her mum’s 13-year-old Danish gelding, SL Lucci (pictured) also obtained the highest score of the competition in the pony freestyle, heading the class with 79.37%. The dynamic duo topped the tables in the team test with 74.23% and the pony individual test with a whopping 77.15% - over five per cent above second placed Danish rider, Sara van Deurs Petersen riding Farbenfroh (72.11%).
From her Facebook, Phoebe spoke about her first ever trip to Nieuw en Sint Joosland: “Today we made it 3/3 with a win in the kur on a score of 79.04%! I really had such a great time, not only for enjoying such success with Lucci but also for the great team spirit, super venue, lovely people and gorgeous weather as a bonus.”
Fellow pony rider, Isobel Berrington showed great stability at the competition with her mum’s 19-year-old German gelding, DHI Langar. Scoring strong marks in the pony team, individual and freestyle tests of 69.23%, 68.13% and 73.04% respectively, the twosome showed that they are a force to be reckoned with.
In just their second international competition together, Claire Gallimore and her mum’s ten year old KWPN mare, Annette Ballerina revealed themselves to be an exciting prospect for the future. Building on their scores from Addington CDI3* in the young rider team and individual tests, the pair scored 70.04% and 68.99% respectively before heading into the freestyle to place 11th with 70.62%.
Senior rider, Matt Frost had a successful trip to the Netherlands. Riding Dedi Leech’s ten year old German gelding, AMD Don Rosso II, Matt not only placed seventh in the PSG with 69.84%, the pair also claimed an international personal best in the inter I and a solid score of 70.26% to grab fifth.
Fresh from their wins at Addington CDI3*, Nikki Crisp and her own 18-year-old Dutch-bred mare, Pasoa attained strong marks in the grand prix with 68.50% for ninth and 66.78% for fifth in the grand prix special. Fellow senior rider, Steph Croxford took her own ten year old British-bred gelding for his first trip off home soil to contest the big tour classes. Scoring a promising 66.44% in the grand prix and 64.35% in the special, the duo showed great scope for the future.
