The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) launches the 2015/16 round of Hoof Capital Funding opportunities for equestrian facilities across England today (1 April 2015). Hoof Capital Funding grants are available in addition to a Leased Facility scheme that is on offer for Sole Traders and Partnership operations as part of the innovative awards.
The £150,000 Sport England funded pot allows riding establishments to apply for £1 for £1 match funding to construct or enhance facilities that will lead to local growth in participation in equestrian sport. Charities, not-for-profit and Limited (Ltd) organisations are encouraged to apply with projects that have already received the relevant planning permission. Sole Traders and Partnerships are able to apply for any equipment that will lead to the growth of participation in equestrian sport under the Leased Facilities (Scheme 2).
Alex Copeland, Head of Sport Development at the BEF commented: “By improving the capacity of equestrian centres through the leased facilities and grants schemes we look forward to being able to offer more opportunities for people to ride. As a result our intention is to grow the numbers and the numbers participating in equestrian sport growing as a result.”
Ackworth & District Riding Club benefitted from a full set of showjumps, cross country fences for indoor and outdoor use, a set of working hunter fences, two sets of dressage arena markers along with and a trailer and container to transport and store the equipment from the 2014 round of Hoof Capital Funding Leased Facilities Scheme.
Vice Chairman of Ackworth & District Riding Club, Sharon Webb said: “The feedback about the equipment so far has been amazing – not only have we seen the entries to competitions and training days increase threefold, we have also seen a rise in the number of Club memberships this year. The equipment has allowed us to establish a whole programme of activities across the year that we would not have been able to run otherwise”.
Grants of up to £25,000 will be awarded for projects that show a clear and measurable target for increasing participation levels, offering more riding opportunities and helping to ensure that members of the public are given the opportunity of an enjoyable and satisfying experience. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that proposals are sustainable in the long term.
The first of the two stage application process will close on 26 April 2015. Please contact facilities@bef.co.uk or click here for further information.
