Last weekend, 26-year-old Emily Cousins faced her biggest challenge to date as a senior rider by competing in a World Cup qualifier.
Equipped with her and her mother’s 16-year-old KWPN gelding, Solo Bachelorette (pictured), Emily made the journey from her base at trainer, Sarah Millis’s in Sussex to the continent for the ‘s-Hertogenbosch CDIW in the Netherlands (12 – 15 Mar 2015) to contest in the grand prix. Although the class was topped by Dutch combination, Edward Gal and Glock’s Undercover with a massive 82.68%, Emily and Solo – as he’s known at home – scored a respectable 63.12% to place 18th.
Updating her Facebook page on her progress, Emily exclaimed: We had the most amazing time!! A few big mistakes in the Grand Prix which dragged our score down to a bit lower than we would have liked, but I'm still thrilled with my big 'grown up' pony in such a massive atmosphere. He's just awesome!”
