Hannah and Becky Moody swept the board at Myerscough Premier League last week (4 – 8 Mar 2015), winning a whopping eight titles out of the nineteen up for grabs at the competition.

Unbeaten since last year’s LeMieux National Championships in September, Becky and her own eight year old Painted Black-sired gelding, Carinsio (pictured) continued their fantastic run of form, notching up wins in the Fairfax Saddles PSG (72.50%), both Saracen Horse Feeds inter I classes (74.12% and 73.42%) and the Magic PSG freestyle (78.58%) – the future is definitely bright for this dynamic duo. Becky also scored wins in the second Fairfax Saddles PSG and inter I freestyle with Davina Parker’s 15-year-old Nourejev mare, Tirsa on 71.27% and 74.71%, respectively.

Sister, Hannah Moody, also enjoyed success in the big tour classes. Riding Julie Lockey’s 13-year-old Belgian mare, Caluna, Hannah claimed the LeMieux grand prix with 68.30% and Saturday’s grand prix freestyle with an impressive 72.38% - a personal best at that level.

European gold medallist, Phoebe Peters took both pony titles over the course of the competition. Riding her faithful partner, Tracy Peters’ 13-year-old Danish gelding, SL Lucci, Phoebe topped the leader board in the pony individual test with a solid 74.51% and pony team test with a huge 78.03%, six per cent above second placed Lara Kuropatwa and Mister Snowman (72.31%).

Speaking from her Facebook, Phoebe couldn’t contain her delight: “Really happy with how Myerscough Premier League went! SL Lucci was on top form and was if anything a little bit too over excited to be out competing again.”

“On Friday night, we had the Individual test first,” Phoebe continued. “Despite cheeky Lucci spooking four times and showing off several lovely flying changes, we did some really strong work to score 74.51% and win the class! The team test was early on Saturday morning, Lucci produced more fantastic work and again despite a spook in the canter tour (gaining us 4's!) we scored 78.02% putting us 6% ahead of the field and winning the class. The judges’ comments were super positive, saying how much he has improved since last summer and also how fantastic it is to see so much enthusiasm and sparkle early on in the season.”

The Lancashire-based venue was also host to the first of several classes in the Shearwater Potential International Young Dressage series. With an aim to find the next dressage star, the classes attract up-and-coming horses from across the country. 29-year-old Bryony Goodwin rode Judith Davis’ British-bred mare, Hawtins Duchessa to victory in the four year old class with a great score of 8.40, whilst 25-year-old, Jessica Dunn topped the five year old class with her own and the Keenan family’s Dutch-bred mare, Fyona with a massive 8.78.
