The open application process and selection is now complete and British Dressage is pleased to announce that Port Royal in East Riding of Yorkshire will host the Northern summer regional over 7 – 9 August 2015.

The Rules and Fixtures Committee made their decision based on a venue meeting the criteria and, taking in to consideration the location of existing regionals, somewhere central in the region for the benefit of the most members possible. They’d like to thank all the venues who came forward at short notice to apply.

Port Royal has been awarded the Regional Championship for one year as 2015 is the final year of the current three year regionals allocation. Applications are currently to all venues to apply to hold either the winter or summer regional championship for the next three year cycle of 2016 – 2018. Rules and Fixtures Committee, in consultation with each of the eight regional committees, will be making future allocations at their next meeting on the 11 March.

Michelle Bainbridge, organiser at Port Royal commented: “The Team at Port Royal EEC and I are thrilled to have been awarded the Summer Regional for 2015. Having been voted as ‘Northern Region Venue of the Year’ in 2013 and 2014 by the membership, we are looking forward to welcoming even more members to our centre and giving them the ‘Port Royal Experience’! We have a brilliant team behind us who thrive on creating the championship atmosphere and very much look forward to pulling out all the stops to make this Regional one to remember. I haven’t stopped smiling since being given the news and the hard work has already started – extra toilets - booked, showers - booked, commentator – booked, sleepless nights - inevitable! But we hope this will be the first of many major BD competitions to come.”
