There has never been a more exciting time to join the team at British Dressage. The sport is enjoying a public profile like never before, with a growing membership of over 14,000 plus a further 40,000 registered supporters. With a team of 37 employees, supported by an extensive network of volunteers, British Dressage now regulates over 2,100 days of competition a year.  And we have big plans for the future...but need to grow to support them.  So, we're looking to recruit for two exciting roles within the team at Meriden.

Commercial Manager

Having gained charitable status in 2014, British Dressage has an ambitious strategic plan in place and we are therefore looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Manager who can deliver a range of sales, marketing, sponsorship and business development initiatives to help us realise the full commercial potential of the sport.

We're searching for an innovative and dynamic individual, who can provide leadership on a variety of commercial projects; to increase our membership through proactive sales initiatives, attract high profile partners and sponsors, drive new fundraising initiatives and diversify our revenue streams via merchandising, licensing and donations.

Whilst a knowledge and passion for equestrian sport would be advantageous, it is not essential. More vital is that you have extensive experience in business management, ideally in a sports environment, and have a proven track record of delivering commercial success. Candidates with a fundraising background in the not-for-profit sector would also be welcomed.

You would report to the Chief Executive and work collaboratively with the senior management team to assist them with the ongoing implementation of the strategic plan.

You will therefore be an enthusiastic, positive and determined self-starter, with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines, working equally well autonomously or as part of a team. Confident and articulate, you will be an effective ambassador for British Dressage, helping to build relationships with our key stakeholders and associated third parties.

Database Developer

We're to recruit an experienced Database Developer to help us deliver a range of forthcoming technical projects. This person will work as part of our IT team to support and extend British Dressage’s membership based CRM system, which encapsulates all the rules and regulations of the sport, managing all of the entries, qualifications and results for our events.

The successful candidate will have experience of leading and managing development projects to deliver high quality solutions to multiple end users. A dynamic and disciplined self-starter, you will have the ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into a user-friendly technical solution, often having to multi-task and work to tight deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a sharp focus and attention to detail, are therefore vital to this role.

You will be familiar with the concept of using Microsoft Access as a front end for a SQL server database and have experience in database design, query creation and data architecture.

The following technical skills are also considered essential:

• Advanced Microsoft Access 2010+ skills, including:
  - Experience writing in Access VBA; knowledge of classes, modules, events, forms, error handling and logging techniques.
  - Detailed knowledge of Access SQL.
• Knowledge of SQL Server 2005+, including:
  - Experience of maintaining SQL Server(s) and managing replicated databases.
  - T-SQL programming knowledge, including writing and maintaining stored procedures, functions and triggers.
  - Ability to manipulate SQL data, using views, stored procedures, to produce reports.
• Experience of MS Reporting Services (SSRS)
• Web development skills, including:
  - Experience of Microsoft.Net.
  - Ideally with knowledge of C# and XML.

A familiarity with the Umbraco content management system would also be desirable. In addition, experience of documenting pre-existing systems (both from a technical and user perspective) would be advantageous.

To apply for either role, please email your CV and current salary details to Jason Brautigam. A full job description is available on request. The deadline for applications is Friday 20th February and first round interviews will take place 2nd March for the Commercial Manager and sometime in early March for the Database Developer role.
