Britain’s current and future stars were out in force for the Addington High Profile Show, Buckinghamshire (16 – 18 January 2015). The first competition of the year for many, Addington received record numbers in entries for many of their classes – there were 39 starters in Friday’s PSG!
South Yorkshire-based rider and trainer, Becky Moody was the big winner over the weekend. Combined with her own eight year old Painted Black gelding, Carinsio (pictured), she topped the leader board in all three classes entered. The dynamic duo claimed both PSGs with scores of 74.07% and 74.38% and made their debut at inter I, winning Friday’s class with a whopping 70.70%.
Becky and Jack’s – as Carinsio is known at home – achievements were available to watch in the comfort of your own home thanks to Tim and the team at Addington. They used the show as an opportunity to trial live streaming, with all classes over the course of the competition available to watch through Addington Manor’s website. With masses of positive feedback flooding in to the dressage office alone, it can safely be said that the trial was a huge success!
After moving to the UK last summer, Danish rider, Sune Hansen chose the High Profile show to make his British dressage debut. Riding his own nine year old Danish gelding, Carso’Ni in the second inter I of the competition, Sune scored 74.03% to take first place. Becky Moody and Davina Parker’s 15 year old KWPN mare, Tirsa took second with 71.44%. Sune continued his run of success into the inter II with his second ride, 12-year-old Danish gelding, Charmeur SH. Scoring a solid 70.04%, the pair narrowly claimed the top spot ahead of second placed Olivia Oakeley with her own 14-year-old Dimaggio gelding, Donna Summer (69.82%).
It was also a weekend of firsts for Olivia and her long-term partner, Rio – as his friends call him – who, at the last minute, grew extremely courageous and withdrew from the inter I to contest in the grand prix, their first senior GP. Scoring an impressive 65.06%, the pair earned fourth place in a strong class – topped by Alice Oppenheimer with her mother’s 12-year-old Dimaggio gelding, Headmore Delegate who scored 70.16%, four percent above second placed Anna Ross and Jane Sewell’s 14-year-old De Niro mare, Die Callas (66.00%) who later went on to win the grand prix special with 68.33%.
Gearing up for the impending Winter Regional Championships in February, the competition was also host to several music classes. Nicola Cooper had a successful weekend as she, equipped with her own eight year old KWPN gelding, Classic Cupido V, danced her way to the top in the medium freestyle with 68.25%. The pair also won the straight medium class on the Saturday with an impressive 73.38%.
Phoebe Peters led the way for the U25s, achieving the highest score of the youngsters over the course of the weekend. Riding Charlotte Dujardin’s six year old British-bred gelding, Cruz III, she held off the competition in the pony team test to take first, scoring 73.59%. Speaking from her Facebook, Phoebe gushed:
“Another brilliant day to add to a fantastic first month of 2015! Today I took Charlotte Dujardin's Cruz III to Addington Manor High Profile show to compete in his first official Pony FEI test. He produced a fantastic test way beyond his years and won on a score of 73.59%! I'm so happy for this fabulous pony and all those connected with him, it's an honour to be able to start his surely long and successful career at this level!”
Sisters, Ruth and Clare Hole dominated the individual tests. Scoring 68.90%, 13-year-old Clare and Maisie Scruton’s 14-year-old Dutch-bred stallion, Rembrandt DDH claimed the top spot in the pony individual test whilst 15-year-old Ruth took first place in the junior individual with Rachel Murray’s 12-year-old Gribaldi gelding, Winnetou GEP on a score of 68.55%.
