British Dressage has two voluntary committee vacancies currently up for recruitment. We’re looking for someone to fill a place left by Isobel Wessels on our Judges’ committee and a Chairperson for the Northern Region.
Isobel Wessels will retire from the Committee at the end of the year as she’s now completed her second term leaving a space.
The Judges Committee is a sub-committee of the Board of British Dressage set up for the purpose of supervising all affairs relating to judging, and developing and maintaining a sufficient number of high quality judges.
- a current judge on lists 3a, 2, 2a or 1
- judging regularly at their level
- attended judge training on a regular basis
- hold the respect of the dressage community
- have time to commit to the Judges Committee

Regional Chair – Northern
We’re looking to recruit a new voluntary Regional Chairman / Chairwoman, who can help us to deliver and develop dressage in the Northern Region.
This important role will involve leading the committee of regional representatives and working closely with the Regional Development Officer to deliver BD activity, as agreed by the technical committees. You will enable members in your region to have access to good quality training, competitions and other supporting activities to help them get the most out of their sport. The Regional Chair will also help to ensure that their members’ views and needs are represented throughout BD.
The successful candidate will need to be approachable, enthusiastic, diplomatic, responsible and professional, ideally living within the Northern Region (which includes Cleveland, Derbyshire, Durham, Humberside, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northumberland, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Tyne & Wear and Yorkshire). An ability to support, motivate and lead the Regional Committee members is also essential.
A dressage background and prior involvement with BD (for example, as a judge, trainer, organiser, rider or owner) is required for this position. You will be supported directly by the BD Chief Executive, the RDO and the Regional Committee. The post is voluntary, but expenses to attend meetings will be paid.
