The youngsters dominated the competition at the Vale View High Profile Show, Leicestershire over the weekend (31 October – 2November) with over half of the classes won by an under 25s competitor.

Pony rider, Phoebe Peters thrashed her rivals in the two U25s pick your own tests, topping both leader boards by a whopping 9%. Riding her mum, Tracy Peters’ 12-year-old Danish gelding, SL Lucci, the duo took the PYO team test with an impressive 77.99%. It was fellow pony rider, 15-year-old Ruth Hole who took second with Sarah Steggall’s 17-year-old German stallion, Bernwode Brokat on 68.37%.

Continuing their great run of form, Phoebe and her partner of almost three years scored an equally astonishing 76.08% in the PYO individual test to take first place, leaving a 9% gap yet again between them and second place, young rider Gaby Lucas with her own 16-year-old Danish gelding, Laurentius II on 67.36%.

Speaking from her Facebook, Phoebe exclaimed: “Home after a great weekend at Vale View High Profile show! This was Lucci's first competition since August and he was fantastic! First, we won the Team Test on Friday by 9% on a score of 77.98%! Today we won the Individual Test on 76% too! I was especially thrilled because over the two tests we had some really good scores from the judges individually, even hitting 80%+s! So happy with Lucci, he was a star.”

Gaby Lucas and Laurentius II, together since 2012, had a very successful competition taking both PSG titles over the course of the weekend. A very hot class on the Saturday – three out of the 23 combinations retired – Gaby and Laurentius fought off competition from the likes of Harry Payne, Louise Bell and Kirsty Mepham to top the leader board with 69.03%. Sunday’s PSG was won by the pair on a strong score of 66.53%.

21-year-old, Ryan Todd defeated the odds by taking first place in the inter II. With WEG team silver medallist, Michael Eilberg – accompanied by Lynne Crowden’s 12-year-old Dimaggio mare, Woodlander Dornroschen, famed for being the mother of young horse champion, Woodlander Farouche – a firm favourite, Ryan and Julie Todd’s 13-year-old Danish gelding pulled it out of the bag to score 69.04%.

It was also a debut performance for the pair in the grand prix. Having previously competed in the U25s grand prix – the twosome were no strangers to the movements and this showed, gaining 68.06% to take second. International senior rider, Henriette Andersen took the top spot with her own and Jennifer Charlesworth’s 11-year-old Jazz-sired gelding, Warlocks Charm with 69.76%.

It was also a senior rider who took the grand prix special top prize. Hayley Watson-Greaves, 31, and her own 10-year-old British-bred gelding, WG Rubins Nite claimed first with 67.54%
