Experienced British rider Kay Maxted has just returned from competing at Lyon CDI-W, her first ever FEI World Cup™ Dressage qualifier.
Kay and long-time ride Privaldi (pictured), her 17-year-old Gribaldi-sired bay gelding, scored a respectable 64.10% in the grand prix, amongst many of the sport’s elite.
The British combination didn’t quite make the cut to qualify for the grand prix freestyle however they relished the opportunity to perform on the big stage.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to have been part of such a big show,” said Kay. “Working-in with such high-calibre riders as Adelinde Cornelissen and Ulla Salzgeber was a great experience. Privaldi did a nice test, although we had a small mistake at the end of the twos [two-time changes], but he coped well with the pressure and atmosphere.”
The grand prix was won by the Netherlands’ Adelende Cornelissen and Parzival on 78.62% with Ulla Salzgeber and Herzruf’s Erbe for Germany in second on 77.44%.
In the grand prix freestyle, Cornelissen and Parzival took pole position with 80.30%. Germany’s Fabienne Lütkemeier and D’Agostino were runners-up on 80.05% and Ulla Salzgeber with Herzruf’s Erbe was third scoring 79.32%.
