Team Quest (TQ) has been even bigger and better than we ever could have imagined - . Like with any new concept, the first year of TQ has been learning process to ensure the smooth running of the competition in the future and, due to helpful feedback received from TQ participants, we are pleased to announce some exciting changes to the rules for 2015.
Here is an outline of the major changes to be expected:
- The age categories for teams will now be split into BYRDS Teams for all riders up to the end of the year of their 25th birthday and Open Teams for riders of any age.
- All team members must have a minimum of a Team Quest Club membership (or any other paid category of BD membership).
- All teams must be made up of a unique combination of members i.e. No two teams may have the exact same composition at any time. A team may only be represented once per competition day.
- Only one member of the team can be above a BD Group 7 rider and a maximum of a group 5. Group 4 to 1 riders are not eligible for TQ.
- When registering, each team must nominate which BD region they are riding for as each of the eight BD regions will have its own TQ leader board. Teams can compete in any TQ competition in any region, but their points based on their placing at the competition will be allocated to the team’s regional leader board. The regional rankings are based on points and will only take into account the 5 best placings for each team.
- The qualifying period of competitions will take place from 1 February 2015 to 31 August 2015. Eight Regional finals will take place in September.
- At the end of the qualifying period a Regional Final will be held in each of the eight regions. The top 15 teams from each section (BYRDS & Open) within the region will qualify for the respective regional final.
- The top three teams from each section (BYRDS & Open) from each of the eight regional finals will qualify for the TQ National Final to take place late October/November.
- A combination competing at Intro level who achieve 70% or more in two TQ competitions must move up to a higher level (excluding para riders in grades I and II). Similarly, a combination competing at Prelim level who achieve 70% or more in three TQ competitions must move up to a higher level (excluding para riders in grades I and II).
Please note these rules are not applicable to the Team Quest 2014 Final. This is only a summary of the rule changes; the full set of Team Quest Rules for 2015 will soon be available.
