There’s a substantial entry by the home side for this week’s international fixture at Hickstead, 31 July – 3 August. The West Sussex venue is hosting the final leg of the FEI Nations Cup Series (CDIO) so nation’s will be hoping for a finishing flurry in the points. The Dutch lead currently on 43 points with Sweden second on 35. The Danes are third with 26 and Britain aren’t in the hunt to win but a maximum 10 points for winning at Hickstead could see them move up for a podium finish.
The nominated British team is (in alphabetical order) Nikki Crisp (Pasoa), Michael Eilberg (Marakov), Lara Griffith (Andretti H) and Carl Hester (Fine Time 13). Being the final leg, there’s a special twist in that both the grand prix and the special count towards the final result.
There’s also big and small tour classes in the CDI plus CDI competitions for Junior and Young Riders – the ponies are missing as it’s their European Championships in Millstreet, Ireland.
