The British Equestrian Federation will be extending its application period until 16 June 2014 for those wishing to embark on the United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC) Level 4 course. The bespoke programme aims to deliver an advanced syllabus of professional education for coaches with considerable experience to raise industry standards and recognise high performing coaches.
Chris Shaw, UKCC Level 4 Project Officer commented:
“We recognise that this is a very busy time of year for coaches and want to allow individuals as much time as possible for applications to be made. We are also looking to make the in-take of candidates as diverse as possible, as we believe that this will benefit all those involved and of course the sport as a whole. As a consequence, we wish to encourage coaches across all disciplines and sectors of equestrianism to apply.”
The programme, which was established in 2012, is a joint venture run by the British Equestrian Federation (BEF), British Rowing and the University of Gloucestershire. It provides high performing equestrian coaches with the opportunity to gain both the UKCC Level 4 qualification and a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Practice in Sport Coaching (PG Dip). The qualification is not exclusive to those working in a high performance environment; it incorporates coaches working from grassroots level up to individuals supporting Championship teams.
