Michael Eilberg was in astounding form at last weekend’s Addington Manor Premier League. With six rides on four horses he notched up three wins and three fourth places with no scores below 66%. Half Moon Delphi, owned by Jon and Julie Deverill, gave him the LeMieux grand prix win on a strong 73.2% while Half Moon Dynasty provided him with a win and fourth in the two Inter I sections so a great show for the Half Moon Stud to put British breeding , and the sire Dimaggio, top of the tree.
Michael was also in winning ways with Alison Reddy’s Furst Sinclair as they took the one of three hotly contested Fairfax Saddles PSG sections on Saturday with a massive 72.45% having been fourth on Friday. The final star from Pink Green Farm was another Dimaggio offspring, Woodlander Dornroeschen, dam of the super star Woodlander Farouche, who was fourth in the sole Top Spec Inter II section.
Another rider in form was Charlie Hutton with Katie Dunkerton’s Douglas IV. They’ve only been together since January but are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with at small tour level. They were winners on Friday in the Fairfax Saddles PSG section before finishing fifth in the Saracen Horse Feeds Inter I section. On Saturday, their form continued with third in the PSG and second in the Inter I.
Matt Frost and Dedi Leech’s AMD Don Rosso were also on form with a second in one of Friday’s PSG seconds and then going one better to win the Saracen Horse Feeds Inter I section on Saturday, booking a place at the LeMieux National Championships. The final Inter I section went to Lara Griffith with the Bechtolsheimer’s Rubin Al Asad with 74.51%, the highest score of the show.
Sam Thurman Baker is proving she can mix it with the seniors while still making a mark, and a bid for selection, in the young rider ranks. With her long term partner Spring Pascal, half Hannoverian and half Cleveland Bay, she was a worthy winner of the Top Spec Inter II section with 69.51% which gives her a Stoneleigh ticket along with second placed Lesley Peyton-Gilbert and Woodcroft Garuda K. Sam and Spring Pascal then were runners-up in the LeMieux grand prix on one of their best scores to date, 71.36%. In the young rider team competition, she won by nearly 3% with Highcliffe Apollo.
The pony sections were dominated by Clare Hole riding Maisie Scruton’s ‘mini Totilas’ Rembrant DDH with scores of 73.78% (team) and 70.49% (individual). In the juniors, Jessica Gale and Umbro S shone with 67.16% to take the team test while Amber Barton and Picasso 689 scored a narrow win with 66.32%.
