Great Britain’s Kay Maxted and Privaldi (pictured) have enjoyed a successful trip to the Continent encompassing two competitions: Nice CDI3* in the south of France and Caselle Di Sommacampagna CDI3* in Verona, Italy.

Seasoned grand prix competitor Kay’s first port of call was the Nice CDI3* (28 – 30 March). Here, she and Privaldi, her charming 17-year-old son of Gribaldi, contested the grand prix freestyle following their 13th place in the 22-strong grand prix. Kay and Privaldi rose to the challenge to post 67.62% for fourth place in the class which was headed by Russia’s Inessa Merkulova and the 10-year-old Trakehner, Mister X.

The 64-year-old Brit, along with her husband Geoff and consistent partner Privaldi, was soon on the road to Italy to contest the Caselle Di Sommacampagna CDI3* (4 – 6 April). Here, she rode a secure grand prix for 65.84% and 10th place in a class where Russia once again prevailed, this time with Elena Sidneva and Romeo Star at the top of the leader board on 69.96%. Opting to compete in the freestyle division, Kay and Privaldi scored 67.47% for another fourth spot. Sidneva and Romeo Star maintained their form to take pole position with 74.62%.
