British Dressage is the national governing body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of dressage. Following on from an amazing haul of 14 medals at two successful Games at London 2012, the sport is enjoying a public profile like never before – everyone loves the dancing horses! With a growing membership of 14,000 plus a supporters database of over 35,000, an ambitious strategic plan and a great team of staff, athletes, officials, organisers, sponsors and supporters, British Dressage is going places.
The search is now underway for our next Chief Executive. We seek an innovative and enthusiastic individual who can provide inspirational leadership to our team of 35 employees, as well as an extensive network of volunteers. You would report to our Board of nine non-executive Directors and assist them with the ongoing implementation of the strategic plan. A strong emphasis is placed on increasing participation, maintaining excellent customer service for our members and continued international success.
Whilst a knowledge and passion for equestrian sport, particularly dressage would be advantageous, it is vital that you have extensive experience in business management, governance (ideally in a sports environment) and managing and developing people. Candidates with a proven commercial background are particularly sought.
As a key figure for the sport, you will be an articulate spokesperson with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at every level. You will work collaboratively and build effective relationships across all areas. To meet the challenges of the sport, you will demonstrate strong emotional resilience and a determination to succeed.
