Farewell HP Frontier

Last week, Katja Kuistila’s Australian-bred grand prix gelding, HP Frontier (Falkrich x Sterling Liberty), was put to the sleep at the age of 15. The dark bay gelding suffered an injury in May 2013 and despite every effort it became apparent that he was not going to return to full fitness and it was decided to retire him. Unfortunately his condition deteriorated, and to avoid any suffering, the most difficult decision was made.

Frontier was partnered by British rider Sarah Millis after coming to the UK in 2011. They enjoyed a successful two years and competed at top international shows in Neumunster, Saumur, Perl, Oldenburg, Drachten, Amsterdam and Vidauban.

“He was loved by so many and will be missed very much,” said Sarah. “I love the sport but this is the one thing that is very hard to deal with. I can only thank his owner, Katja, for the time she gave me with this very special horse. Goodbye ‘big boy’.”
