Some members will be aware that Rowallan Activity Centre in Scotland changed hands suddenly yesterday morning (12 September). The Centre regularly hosts BD affiliated competitions and was due to host the Senior Home International at the end of September. We have been in contact with the new proprietor, Robert Morris, to ascertain his intentions for the site.
We’re pleased to let members know that the Senior Home International will go ahead as planned but under British Dressage’s organisation with support from Robert and his team. All other current affiliated fixtures at Rowallan are on hold but Robert has reassured us that they will be up and running once again after a settling in period.
For members who are competing at the Home International, all arrangements will remain the same with the exception that some will need to re-issue their payment, payable to British Dressage, where cheques have not been cashed. The money from cashed cheques will be made available to fund the competition, less any expenses already incurred. The RDOs will be in touch with those who this concerns directly.
Scotland RDO Cecilia Gladwyn has already set the wheels in motion to ensure the show will be a great championship and the Robert and Penny are looking forward to welcoming you all.
BD Sport Manager Paul Graham commented; “It’s been a difficult 24 hours but amazing to see the amount of team work and pulling together to get us to this stage and we’re delighted that we can stay at Rowallan thanks to Robert. When we heard the news, we carefully weighed up many options but knowing many members had made significant financial commitments to getting to Scotland, which wouldn’t be refundable, Rowallan was our venue of choice. I’m lucky enough to have been selected to compete for my region and I’m looking forward to being part of a special competition with a great atmosphere and spirit.”
