Gabrielle Lucas has withdrawn from the British Junior team for this week’s European Championship in Compiegne, France. Her horse, Laurentius II, has a minor veterinary condition which could render it susceptible to further injury with such a short time until the start of the competition (trot up is today, first competition Wednesday). This brings reserve Hampshire’s Georgia Davis (17) with her own Richmans Manta into the team.
Selector Islay Auty commented; “It’s a tough call at such a late stage but Gabrielle has accepted the circumstances with much courage and grace knowing that it was in her horse’s best interests and for the rest of the team. Georgia and her support team have had a rushed 24 hours but are very ready for the challenge ahead.”
