British Dressage is currently looking to recruit a Pony Team Trainer to work with the Pony Progress Squad Trainer and our Under 21 teams in order to deliver an effective and thorough coaching structure to develop squad ponies / riders or teams of rider / pony combinations that will represent Great Britain at FEI competitions, in line with the Pony Selection Policy. The Pony Team Trainer reports directly to the International Director.
This position, which is paid a daily / half day rate, plus travel and accommodation expenses (as per the BD Expenses policy), includes attending an annual viewing day to select riders for the Pony Prime and Progress Squads and subsequent training weekends / days. The Pony Trainer is also expected to work with riders / parents and their home trainers to draw up and monitor training plans throughout the winter months and results during the year. This role involves periods of time away from home to attend training sessions, national and international competitions, as well as the annual European Championships.
The Pony Team Trainer will liaise with Selectors over the selection of riders for International shows, as well as co-ordinate all training at home and abroad, in conjunction with riders / parents and their home trainers, Chef d’Equipe and U21 office staff.
Please note that all Under 21 officials are required to have knowledge of the British Dressage and BEF Safeguarding policy, attend an equine safeguarding course and have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
