Two exciting days of Premier League competition took place in the scorching sun at Sheepgate EC, Lincolnshire this week (19 – 20 June).

Hertfordshire-based rider Tahley Reeve-Smith continued her successful year with two wins aboard her eye-catching partner Special. The pair took first place in Monday’s Fairfax Saddles FEI PSG class scoring 69.61% before going on to win the FEI Inter I the following day with 69.87%. Tahley and the 14-year-old Sandro Hit sired gelding will now head to the Le Mieux National Championships after picking up their direct qualification tickets; speaking about her show on Facebook Tahley said, "Definitely recommend the trip to Sheepgate Premier League had fantastic time, despite scorchio weather on the first day and doing two classes, Wellgel Cooling was our savior! Special had a 1st and 3rd in the first day PSG and Inter 1 and then won the Inter 1 on the second day. Thank you to those lovely judges and it was so nice chatting and catching up with everyone. Thank you to Sarah Payne her hubster and Alex who made it all run so well and putting on a hog roast… And the best thing no Regionals straight through to Nationals!"

Also heading to the LeMieux Nationals in September are Paul Hayler and Keith Robertson who each scored a win at Grand Prix level. Taking over the reins from his daughter Bobby, Paul steered the grey stallion Aldborough Rubenhall to success earning a solid 68% to finish just ahead of Under 25s rider Samantha Thurman-Baker with her faithful partner Spring Pascal. Samantha and ‘Pascal’ also scored a win in the Monarch Equestrian FEI Inter II class completing a fabulaous week for the Oxfordshire based pair ,who’ve just returned from a great trip to Roosendaal CDI.

Close competition characterised the under 21s classes. A total of three different riders took wins in the FEI Pony tests with victories going to Molly Tulloch, Lavinia Johnson and Bonnie Bourne; Bonnie achieved a one-two in Monday’s team test placing first with the palamino Twyford Salamander and second with her new ride Fin C WE, a former German squad pony once campaigned by Tabea Schroer and Raphael Netz. Ellie Roberts and Charlotte Snape won the Childrens On Horses classes, a new fixture in the Premier League schedules which continue to grow in popularity.
