A strong contingent headed to the Hagen Future Champions Show in Germany last week including three Team NAF squads over the Pony, Junior and Young Rider CDIO classes.
The Team NAF Juniors and Young Riders opened the show with five great performances on Thursday. The Juniors only had two representatives in Jade Ellery and Emily Bradshaw (three in a team) so both of their scores had to count. With two 68%+ marks, they secured fifth in tough company.
The NAF Young Rider Trio of Charlotte Fry (Dark Legend), Rebecca Edwards (Headmore Delegate) and Ellie Mccarthy (Donna Summer) really pulled out the stops and a podium score of 72.89% from Charlotte boosted them to finish second behind the hosts Germany.
Charlotte and Rebecca both took second rides to contest the CDIY in Everdale and Ufano and they both proved more than able ‘back ups’ with top ten placings. 
The Team NAF pony threesome of Sophie Taylor (Madam’s Miss Maria), Anya Holleth (SL Lucci) and Megan Barratt (Valido’s Starlight) all were excellent in the team test and 70%+ scores from both Sophie and Anya gave them a place on the podium at the iconic German venue. All three then secured top ten placings in the Indvidual and Freestyle tests to cap a great trip including a fabulous third spot in the Individual test for Sophie and 'Dorothy - picutred left with team trainer, Darryl Thickett.
Charlotte Mcdowall (LE Chiffre), Isobel Lickley (Gigolo), Lilah Gibbs (Non Plus Ultra) and Gemma Owen (Der KIeine Lord) all contested the Pony CDI with some strong performance.
In the Children on Horses section, it was a first international outing of 2017 for Lily Payne and Ann Savage’s Beckhouse Cancara after impressing at the NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships and their form continues. They opened with a sixth place in the Preliminary test before climbing to fourth in the team test. They boosted their score by some two percent in the Finale test for another fourth place and upset the German domination of the class with a Union flag proudly flying in the results.
