Anna Ross-Davies made the long journey to Lipica CDI-W with Jane Sewell’s Pegasus MK and came home with two top eight places and valuable FEI World Cup points. For those not up on geography, Lipica is in Slovenia, just over the eastern border with Italy so quite a trek for Pegasus and his travelling companions, Gina Suddaby and Chloe Chaplain!
In a small but competitive field, Anna and the 16 year old Elcaro-sired gelding Pegasus MK scored well in the qualifying Grand Prix with 67.447% for a podium third place. They had a 70%+ score from the German judge while two others had them pair in second but, as is dressage, overall, it was a fantastic third spot.
In Sunday’s Freestyle, where Anna was debuting her new music and floorplan, Pegasus obviously saw something in the arena so was on the spooky side. Anna posted on Facebook afterward; ‘MK did great Piaffe and Passage but some spooky bits at imaginary gremlin in the corner cost us a few places today, still a top ten placing in a World Cup qualifier under his girth -but we can do better! He celebrated by eating one of the spectators!’. A final score of 66.85% gave them eighth place and sets them on their way to qualification for next year’s World Cup final, should Anna take that route.
