This weekend (18-19 March 2017) Britain's top para riders will be out in force for the first major competition of the para calendar, the Nirvana Spa BD Para Winter Championships. Once again it returns to the centrally located venue of Vale View in Leicestershire where the best Gold and Silver combinations in the country will vie for top placings and coveted championship titles.
Saturday features warm up classes for the Silver combinations to prepare themselves for their Nirvana Spa Championship classes later on that day. There’ll also be qualifiers for the KBIS Gold Championships, which will reward riders gaining their qualifying points with a place at the KBIS Gold Semi-Finals at Wellington Premier League on 8 June. If all that wasn't enough, there’ll be a freestyle finale to cap off the day seeing a mixture of grades from across both Gold and Silver sections.
Sunday is the turn of the Gold riders who’ll battle it out for the chance to become Nirvana Spa Winter Champion of their respective grade. The day promises to be a cracker! It'll be a good run for the combinations going to Deauville CPEDI3* at the end of the month and a great chance for those 2017 European Championship hopefuls to show us what they've got.
All in all a truly inspirational weekend of dressage and an opportunity to see many of the famous names in para dressage. The start lists feature a host of top riders including our Rio gold medal star, Sophie Wells (pictured). Classes run from 9.00 each day and there’s great catering and indoor viewing. See the Vale View Equestrian website for the full start lists and results.
