It is with great sadness that we report the passing of retired List 3 judge Susan Caley on Monday 13 May after a short illness.
Heavily involved with horses throughout her life, Susan and her daughter Jen Caley ran a successful livery yard in Yorkshire where Susan taught many people to ride, taking great pride especially in passing on her dressage knowledge, before moving to Leicestershire over ten years ago. She retired from affiliated judging in 2010, only when she reached her 80th birthday.
BD Chief Executive Amanda Bond commented; "Our thoughts are with Susan’s two daughters, Jen and Nicola and her grandchildren at this extremely sad time. Susan dedicated much of her life to dressage and for that we are very grateful. She inspired generations with her teaching and judging and the sport will miss her greatly.”
Susan’s funeral is on Wednesday 29 May at 11am at All Saints Church, Kirkby Overblow, Harrogate, HG3 1HD. The family request summer colours, not black and donations to Diabetes Research.
