Emma Hindle came up against a man on a mission in the form of Denmark’s Andreas Helgstrand at Mannheim CDI3* as well as some strong home challengers.
The show got off to an eventful start when Dorothee Schneider was taken to hospital after her ride Kaiserkult reared up at the horse inspection and caught her on the head with his hoof. A few stitches were required and she chose not to compete.
Riding Brookvale Stud’s Carteano Z-sired stallion Chequille, Emma posted 65.064% to finish 13th in the qualifying grand prix. It was Andreas Helgstrand who was the runaway winner of the class with his new ride Akeem Foldager by almost 5%, a horse many have tipped for success at this year’s European Championships which are of course on Danish soil.
In the Special, Andreas was again the winner but not by such a large margin as fellow coutnryman Thomas Sigtenbjerggaard was close behind on Nintendo. Emma and Chiquille boosted their score to 68.646% to finish fifth in strong company. Young German sensation Jenny Lang took the Freestyle on Loverboy.
